Are you ready to get creative?
The way the blanket is designed keeps your baby warm and secure and wrapped up nicely. Though this blanket is
absolutely perfect for newborns as it will keep babies comfortable and warm, and fashionable all the while, we have also included a doll size, preemie sizing and Angel Baby sizes.
Angel babies, sometimes born long before their time, are often the smallest of babies, much too tiny or fragile for any
traditional baby clothing. It’s a beautiful gesture to create something with your own hands for these little angels that
they will be able to take with them.
Literally, bundling up a child in love.
Not just a gesture of love, but often, being able to create something, choose fabrics carefully, sit down and sew, is a very soothing therapeutic act that will help process a time of immense grief.
The doll size makes a perfect gift for a bigger sister or brother to play pretend as a younger sibling is born. Matching wrap blankets for a doll and a newborn would be a perfect baby shower gift, too!
The blanket uses either Velcro or buttons as closure.
The options to embellish this blanket are limitless! Whether it’s just some trim, or intricate embroidery, you can make this blanket special for any baby.
Two options are included in this pattern: a bias tape blanket, to give some extra detail and add some contrast, and a blanket without bias tape with finished edges, that will make this an even faster project.
Not sure how bias tape works? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered! You’ll learn the perfect way to attach bias tape to blankets in this pattern that anyone will be able to master.
A woven fabric (quilting cotton is recommended) for the main fabric. I like to use a layer of fleece as the inside of my
blankets to add warmth, but you could use other materials such as minky, flannel, velours or any other softer kind of
fabric. Of course, using two layers of a simple quilting cotton is possible too, as it’s not necessary to use a warmer lining. It will make a cooler blanket just perfect for those spring and summer babies.
For bereavement blankets, satin looks amazing, and many women choose to repurpose wedding dresses for this
